Good nutrition is such an important part for developing
children. Healthy foods will help your child’s mind and body work well
throughout the day, and will help improve a variety of different functions that
are necessary for growth.
Of course, we all know how difficult it can be to get the
kids to eat healthy, which is why we have come up with four imaginative after-school
snacks that are both nutritious and delicious. Use your imagination when making
these the next time the kids are home from school:
1. Fruit and Veggie
Beach Scene
To help your little one get their fruits and vegetables
after school, pick up a few bananas, some baby carrots, and some kiwis (or
broccoli, if you’re daring). Lay the baby carrots at the bottom of a plate, and
have two bananas pointing upwards. At the very top of the bananas, arrange
sliced kiwi or broccoli in a bunch. Take a step back, and it should look like a
beach scene with two palm trees sticking out of the sand.
2. Ants on a Log
Remember this fun classic snack for kids from when you were
a little one? All you need is some celery, peanut butter, and some raisins on
top, making this tasty snack look like ants marching down a log.
But you don’t have to stop there with the imagination. Feel
free to use nuts or seeds instead of raisins, and different fruits or
vegetables in place of celery. You can always even switch out peanut butter for
almond butter or tahini, or another similar substance.
3. Make a Fruit and
Vegetable Smoothie
One of the best ways to get picky eaters to get their daily
dose of fruits and vegetables is by whipping up a delicious smoothie in order
to disguise the ingredients. For a delicious snack for kids, put bananas,
strawberries, milk, and ice into a blender, and blend it all together. If your
child likes the taste, blend in some avocado and spinach as well – both of
these items have a very mild taste, and shouldn’t be detected by your child. This
way, your child will be getting a healthy supply of nutrients, while drinking a
cool after-school beverage.
4. Vegetable Pizza
Sometimes you just have to reward your child after a long
week at school – and a great way to do that is by making a delicious vegetable
pizza together as an after-school snack. And if you want to add some extra fun
into the mix, consider picking up the new Curious Chef Pizza Kit. This
sweet new kids toy gives your little one everything they need to be a part of
the process, including a pizza cutter, a spatula, and a board to cut up the
delicious treat. It even comes with a shopping list to make sure you don’t
forget anything when you head to the store.

Getting your kids to eat
healthy and creative snacks doesn’t have to be a chore. Make these sweet
after-school snacks for the little ones in the fall and bring a smile to their
faces.
